Excerpt: British Bombing Begins Following the demise of No. 3 Naval Wing, the British government's concern with strategic bombing dwindled. Official interest in aviation detachments committed to independent bombardment almost disappeared. The exception was No. 5 Wing, Royal Naval Air Service at Dunkirk. The Admiralty continued to underwrite No. 5 Wing, which raided German naval bases along the Belgian coast with DeHavillands and Handley Pages.
