Joe Turner May (born June 8, 1937) is an American politician. Since 1994 he has served in the Virginia House of Delegates, representing the 33rd district, made up of parts of Clarke, Frederick and Loudoun Counties in the northern part of the state. He is a member of the Republican Party.[1]

May is also an engineer and inventor who holds over 20 patents in the fields of electrical and electronic engineering.[2]

May was cochair of the House committee on Science and Technology 1998–2001, and chair 2002–2007. Since 2008, he has been chair of the committee on Transportation.[1]

On June 11, 2013, Dave LaRock defeated May in a Republican primary election.[3]
